How to Tie Ribbons on Gifts

Classic Bow

Step 1 – Cut a piece of ribbon depending on the size of your present.

Step 2 – Pull the ribbon under the present with the back of the present facing up and ensure they are equal lengths.

Step 3 – Cross the ribbons over again to form a cross.

Step 4 – Then, take the ribbon ends and pull them back across the present, flipping the present over as you do.

Step 5 – Next, thread both of the loose ends under the tight ribbon running across your gift.

Step 6 – Now, pull the ends across and tie a knot.

Step 7 – Form a loop with one of the ribbon ends, then use the other ribbon end to draw across the loop and pull through to make a bow.

Step 8 – Pinch the ribbon end and cut across on a diagonal slant to create a neat finish to your ribbon ends. Repeat on the other side.

Fancy Bow

Step 1 – Follow the steps 1 – 6 from the classic bow instructions

Step 2 – Cut another piece of ribbon and make two loops, cross them over to form a bow shape and place these on top of the knot to make it central. Next tie the original ribbon ends to form a loop and pull the other ribbon across to form a bow, securing the loose bow as you do.

Step 3 – Pinch all the remaining ribbon ends and cut across on a diagonal slant to create a neat finish to them.

Corner Bow Tie

Step 1 – Cut a piece of ribbon depending on the size of your present.

Step 2 – Pull the ribbon under the present with the back of the present facing up and ensure they are equal lengths.

Step 3 – Cross the ribbons over again to form a cross to the side of the gift.

Step 4 – Then, take the ribbon ends and pull them back across the present, flipping the present over as you do.

Step 5 – Next, thread both of the loose ends under the tight ribbon running across your gift.

Step 6 – Now, pull the ends across and tie a knot.

Step 7 – Form a loop with one of the ribbon ends, then use the other ribbon end to draw across the loop and pull through to make a bow.

Step 8 – Pinch the ribbon end and cut across on a diagonal slant to create a neat finish to your ribbon ends. Repeat on the other side. You can also cut the ends of the ribbon loops off, if you wanted to create a different look.
