“Amazon Go is a new kind of store featuring the world’s most advanced shopping technology. No lines, no checkout – just grab and go! “ Amazon

At present, there is a store in Seattle that has no checkouts, you just simply go in, pick up what you want and walk out!

So how does it work?

Shoppers at Amazon Go have the cost of any products they take off the shelves automatically billed to their Amazon Prime account.  Sensors follow customers around the store and record their purchases using a virtual cart. The technology detects when a product is taken off a shelf and will even update your virtual cart, if you later decide to put it back on the shelf.  You receipt is sent to your account, sounds simple, right?

Will we be seeing any Amazon Go stores in the UK?

According to the Guardian “Amazon has remained quiet about whether it plans to launch Amazon Go outside the US. It registered a UK trademark on 5 December, indicating it intends to bring the format to Britain.”

What do you think?

Whilst some people say that the introduction of these kinds of shops would be detrimental to the employment rates, other people think it’s a great innovation and will enable customers to have a better retail shopping experience.  We would love to hear your comments below:
